Jane Asher was born in London, England, U.K. the 5th April 1946. She has red hair and blue eyes.
Her father, Dr. Richard Asher, was a psychiatrist and her mother Margaret Augusta Eliot was a classical music professor at the Guildhall School of Drama and Music. She used to play the oboe in symphony orchestras but quit in order to have a family, but continued to give private lessons in her home. One of her students was future Beatles producer George Martin, long before Jane and Paul McCartney ever met.
She has two sibilings. One is Peter Asher, the member of the famous musical group "Peter and Gordon" and a sister called Claire who acted in the BBC radio series "Mrs. Dale's Diary" in the late 1950s.
Jane Asher made her first professional appearance at the age of five in the film "Mandy". Then, she made her West End debut in 1960, followed by the Bristol Old Vic in 1965.
She was engaged to Paul McCartney in the sixties, during most of his career with The Beatles.

Jane met her future husband Gerald Scarfe at a private eye party in 1970. Afterwards the two became lovers which resulted in the birth of their first child Katherine in April 1974. They got married in 1981 when expecting their second child Alexander, and then had their third and last child, Rory, born 1984.
She actually runs a Cakes Shop which has its main shop in London.
